1993 Oldsmobile 88 Royale 3.8 V6, EFI from North America

Summary:

Nicest car I've ever owned. Payed $1600

Faults:

Some small areas of the interior need repair. i.e. Driver side armrest, ceiling upholstery.

General Comments:

The car gets excellent mileage for a large car, 30mpg on the highway using cruise control, also VERY comfortable.

Great vehicle, bought a 1993 Oldsmobile 88 Royal in Florida and the gas mileage was unreal, just as good if not better than some of these new imports. From Florida to Cleveland Ohio used only $65.00 in gas. Rode like a dream on the highway keeping up to traffic at 85mph and still had plenty of power.

1993 Oldsmobile 88 Royale 3.8 from North America

Summary:

A Classy, but unreliable Cadillac clone

Faults:

Alt. Failed shortly after ownership.

The power antenna stopped working.

Starter failed.

Tires popped.

Electrical system is very bad.

The car very easily collects dust.

The anti-lock brake system is extremely faulty, had them disconnected.

General Comments:

First I must say that the car is quite underpowered with only 170 horsepower pulling near 2 tons.

The suspension is WAY too spongy and makes it near impossible to make sharp turns.

The electrical system is general is bad.

I have put over $1200 in general work put into the car in just 1 year.

Even with 65,000 miles it still has random problems.

Paint job looks GREAT when waxed and polished.

Underpowered is the most unbelievable statement you could make about the car. For being a "granny car" it hauls a** to say the least. I would say it is an excellent first car for any one, and a great car for someone looking for a luxury car that still has some giddy-up. It is a shame the model is discontinued.
