1987 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham review from North America
"I am very satisfied with this car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
I am from Hungary where having a car is luxury or if you have one, it is small with a smaller engine. Before I came over to the US I decided to buy here a big and really American car. I was looking for a car to go to work every day, for a reasonable price. This is how I ended up with my Oldsmobile 98 Regency Brougham.
It has memory seats, automatic air conditioning, power windows and everything that a car manufacturer could put into a car in 1987 as an extra. And inside it is just simply huge. When I bought this car it had 219 000 miles already, but despite this the transmission is almost perfect, as is the engine.
In December 2001 I spent 3 weeks in Hungary and my Oldsmobile was in the parking lot through the whole time. After 3 weeks in the winter weather the engine started immediately as I turned the ignition key.
The only thing I need to do with it, is to fill up the tank every week. It goes 22 miles with a gallon in city which is very good. On the highway it can go up to 25-27.
I can talk about my Oldsmobile 98 only in a positive way. But here I need to make one thing clear: I am taking at least as good care of this Oldsmobile as its previous owner.
