I agree with this fine gentleman, I beleive that Astra is the pride of OPEL s older models. I would gladly drive the latest model, but unfortunately I cannot afford it.

1995 Opel Astra Cabrio Bertone 1.8i 16v from Finland

Summary:

Excellent

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong yet.

I have done quite much servicing to avoid things from going wrong in the future.

Oil, all filters changed (oil, fuel, air), spark plugs, thermostat and transmission oil changed.

Roof material is still very good and electrical control is working as it should. Also all other electrical equipments are working.

General Comments:

Cabrio is very nice to drive in the summer. I went to ice sea during july on a vacation trip and it was awesome to have roof down and driving in the fjords in Norway. That trip was meant to be just driving pleasure and it really was, 3600 km on one week and not even slightly tired about driving. I still have my omega to use when it is starting to rain too much and temperature goes down so car should stay in quite good condition. As far as I know it has been driven only in summers and it shows since there is no sign of rust yet. Normally Astra would have been patched in many places already when 10 years old.

1995 Opel Astra GL Station Wagon 1.6 gasoline from Thailand

Summary:

Good performances and cover the cost

Faults:

There is excessive wind noise from the exterior mirrors through the front windows.

Removing head restraints of this car is very hard.

Fast driving isn't stable because of too soft of the rear choke-up.

General Comments:

This car is more comfortable than Opel Corsa, but less than Toyota or Nissan.

Astra is very good speed, and acceptable stable of fast driving at 140 km/h maximum.

Engine is acceptable fuel consumption (120 km/hour, consumes 11 litre/100 km).

1995 Opel Astra CL 1.7 diesel from Belgium

Summary:

An economic, reliable good looker

Faults:

So far, nothing has gone wrong with the car, it still handles as when I just bought it. If I really have to find one thing to 'complain' about, it will be the lock of the left front-door, it feels a little like it's coming loose. This is the most reliable car I've ever owned.

General Comments:

Great handling both in the city as on the open roads. You're always completely aware of what you're doing. On the field of performance, it sure misses something, bud I bought the 1.7L diesel for it's low consumption, not for it's performance. I manage to keep an average of 5.8L/100Km.

The seats are comfortable. I was surprised by the improvements made in the Astra. It has enough space for 4 passengers. Notice: My previous car was a 1975 Kadett 1200N wich explains why I was surprised.

Engine noises are low, wind noise is low as well. I even love the way it looks.

1995 Opel Astra GL 1.6 16v from Romania

Summary:

A fast and comfortable caravan

Faults:

The engine support, on the right side broke up at 79,000 Km.

The outside temperature sensor did not shows exactly.

The driver seat make a funny noise. I think it's not too well fixed.

General Comments:

This is my third Opel. First Ascona C GT sport 2l engine (made in 1987), very powerful car with high acceleration. Than a Kadett 1.6 l (made in 1990) very economic fuel consumption.

The Astra is a comfortable caravan with a lot of room, and a powerful engine. The car run fast and it's easy to handle. My wife also loves to drive it.

I think I will stay with Opel. It's a car that never let me down.
