1993 Opel Astra Diamond review from UK and Ireland
"Too troublesome for most"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Quite a lot in a short time of ownership.
The thermostat was broken so there was no heat inside the car.
The water pump was faulty and needed replacing.
The exhaust rear box and tailpipe broke off.
The hazard light switch was faulty, turning them off took many attempts.
The driver's window tension had gone and the window could be rolled down from the outside with the palm of a hand.
Bit of the interior kept breaking off, such as the window winder and the handle to move the driver's seat forward.
General comments?
I had to go to an opel dealer when I couldn't get anyone else to replace the thermostat, and they completely disregarded our wishes and put in a water pump and timing belt along with the thermostat. We received a bill for 379 euros and then had our car held hostage until we paid.
Despite this, it is a nice car to drive, handling well around towns for a car it's size.
