1998 Opel Campo Single Cab DTI 2.5 diesel from Greece

Summary:

Never tires of doing its job

Faults:

Rust is a problem over the years, it's something you have to live with.

The door locks are quite weak and prone to failure, making it difficult to close the doors smoothly.

The chassis and suspension are a bit noisy, but not unbearable at all.

Despite being a diesel, fuel consumption isn't its strong suit. It's around 10 l/100 km, though understandable given the type of vehicle it is.

General Comments:

The pickup is a European version of the Isuzu Faster, the result of the union between Isuzu, Opel and GM. It is characterized by its robustness for work in the field and its 4x4 traction, sometimes with dual low and high traction.

Its power and performance on difficult terrain are beyond enviable.

It's a fairly simple model with little technology, which can be a disadvantage for some users who need certain comforts in their daily lives, along with, of course, high fuel consumption, which will depend on an efficient driving style.

Being a single cab, this model doesn't have enough space for rear passengers, at least not in this version, since there were also double cab versions.

4x4 drive is not recommended for road driving, as it must be frequently engaged manually.

The 2.5 Isuzu engine is an indestructible rock, noisy and rugged, but it does its job perfectly. It's very well suited for this type of pickup. It just runs and does its job decently. In almost 300,000 km, it hasn't had a single problem, even though it was used for heavy-duty work.

For those looking for a sturdy and reliable small/medium pickup truck for off-roading, the Opel Campo may be a good option, especially if you prioritize 4x4 traction and don't mind the lack of technology.

That said, keep in mind the rust problems.
