1996 Opel Omega MV6 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Expensive to own, but a car I loved and miss!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Interior beginning to deteriorate.
Rust beginning to show.
Front bumper started falling off.
Rear brake lights on the spoiler falling off.
Rear bushes collapsed.
Full exhaust replacement.
Full manifold replacement.
LCD screen playing up (bad pixels).
Ignition switch mechanism broken TWICE!!!
Parts in New Zealand are very expensive.
General comments?
Great open road car, 1 tank gets you from Christchurch to Hamilton - Heavy on the gas around town.
Very nice interior, feels somewhat "flash"
Handles open road fantastically.
Good pickup.
Good safety features.
Excellent factory sound system (for a change!)
Would I buy another Omega? Definitely if at a good price, and I knew I wouldn't have the same problems!
Would I recommend to others? No - Unless you have good mechanical skills, time, patience, and money! The engine bay is packed with engine - not much room to move!! Also the engine sits slightly further back than you can get access to. The rear spark plugs are somewhat difficult to get to!
