The tank was rusty and leaked when filled with fuel.

The car is fuel efficient, has a good grip on the road and it accelerates pretty fast.
I've had the same problem with mine. However I've found that if you prime the engine (pump the accelerator a few times) before cranking it. Mine will start with minimal cranking.
