2000 Opel Zafira Elegance DTi 2..0 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Versatile roomy family car

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

My main gripe is poor driver visibility. Wipers on all UK Zafiras I have seen are set for continental drivers. Negotiating sharp right hand bends, eg traffic islands, in the wet leaves a dangerous blind spot with the combined effect of the wide pillars and the 3-4 inches of the screen not swept by the wipers.

Great value if purchased as an import. Paid £12,750 with VAT for a car with ABS breaking, Cruise Control, alloy wheels etc.

I am planning to buy a Zafira, but am worried about the poor visibility due to the wide pillar sort of thing. Haven't noticed the wiper thing you mentioned in the test ride - will try to find that out. Do you think one really gets used to driving with this apparently dangerous blind spot? After all there are so many Zafira's on road...

2000 Opel Zafira Comfort 1.6i 16v from France

Summary:

A good adaptable MVP for the price

Faults:

The "bobinage d'allumage" well that's the word, in French packed up after 36500 kilometres. In English it is the electronic machinery that sits just inside the cover on top of the engine and has something to do with the smooth running of the plugs, I believe so anyway.

Sudden loss of oil after one journey. This happened shortly after a service, so I cannot be sure if it was the garage who hadn't re-filled the oil properly. They obviously denied it.

General Comments:

Opel France have refused to compensate the £200 or so, that the new part cost to replace even though the car had done only 23000 miles and the part should have lasted many thousands of miles more than that.

The set up is fairly good as regards the seating, but the seats are not that comfortable compared to a lot of the seats in some other Opel cars.

What is one supposed to do with the goods cover in the back when you convert to 7 in the car?

2000 Opel Zafira CD 1.8 petrol from Singapore

Summary:

A reasonably priced mini MPV

Faults:

So far so good, a great car to drive. Had initial problems with the LH rear power window, but the dealer got it fixed under warranty.

General Comments:

Fuel consumption is a little on the high side at 10 to 11 litres per 100 km when the majority of the travel is city driving.

I am curious why you changed from a Renault Scenic to an Opel Zafira? (We are trying to decide between them; Scenic wins on airbags, Zafira on potential passenger numbers)

The Zafira offer 4 airbags for the 1.8 auto version, and this car wins my heart for its good road manners and handling.

I just bought the modified version of the Zafira and am totally at awe with the car. This is the 2.2l petrol with automatic transmission.

Side air bags on the front driver and passenger seats, intelligent transmission and powered everything. Smooth ride and quiet road and wind noise.

What do you mean with this "modified version"?
