1971 Peugeot 504 2.0 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A good example of a real car

Faults:

Rust in the doors has been a problem, but nothing too hard to fix.

General Comments:

Excellent car. I have only ever ridden in two better cars, a Citroen DS and a Citroen CX. The French really know how to build cars.

Magnificent ride from the 504, built like a truck, handles like a rally car. suspension is almost as good a Citroen, for example the sway bar must be close to 10mm in diameter wider than the new landcruiser. Seats are like lounge chairs.

Original motor and gearbox still runs without fault, starts first go every time, even in the cold.

Some minor crash damage down left side from previous owner, I will be getting the panels beated and a respray very soon.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hi there, how are you? I must agree with you about how comfortable and how easy to drive the 504 is. I'm on my 2nd one now, and this time it's quite a good buy, being a TI. Far, far less rust and dents. How did your respray go? And was it a big job to do? I've found a few good websites about the 504, so if you'd like to, contact me at jonobridge@hotmail.com.
