1996 Peugeot 605 2.0 Turbo 2.0 turbo from Lithuania

Summary:

The best car for driver

Faults:

The main problem which occurs time to time - the "check engine LED" which goes of after few seconds.

And there were no other problems (electronics are OK).

Some leaking of air conditioner.

General Comments:

The superb car.

I have bought it like "second had". The car was from Switzerland, so after few months I have replaced the clutch.

Installed LPG - and having no problems with that.

The car is quick, good acceleration in higher speeds.

However, top speed only 200 (on docs - 210).

Fuel consumption - average, which is 10 km/liter - almost the same for other 2.0 liter petrol engines.

Drives smooth, but the steering is a bit hard.

The trunk is very spacious.

Overall - very good car for a good price.

1996 Peugeot 605 SVE 3.0 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Brilliant ride, Luxury and Build Quality quite impressive with a timeless Pininfarina style

Faults:

Power Steering - Pump appeared to struggle - replaced belts and used a lighter/thinner power steering fluid, which cleared this problem up.

Relay problem with Electronic Control Unit (Air con and temp display) - found faulty relays were to blame (located under the steering wheel area). Try replacing these before giving up (may be in different place, depending on country).

Radiator Pressure Chamber sprung a leak, easily fixed - new part.

General Comments:

Brilliant Cruise Control, Supple Seats (leather treatment helps these soften up GREATLY). All good gadgets and everything one could want. Suspension could be a little softer on the normal setting, but otherwise, love the sound of the engine / exhaust note, and gets a lot of looks in Australia, as we only sold 48 of these. (Spoiler helps this)

607 Mags look great and freshen up the appearance.

Brilliant, soporifique-I just bought my first 605,complementing my lovely 604 and daily drive 505 SRDt.

The only car that feels like the 605 is the Bentley Brooklands 1990s..Peugeot marketing in Australia has been run by dimwits... what a shame they did a worse job than was done with the 604.I met one of the marketing guys from Peugeot Aus.-Sime Darby, I told him what a disapointing job they were doing with the 607.All they want to sell seems to be 307s.What a shame.

1996 Peugeot 605 ST Turbo 2.0 turbo from Netherlands

Summary:

Superb quality car and driving experience

Faults:

I just only recently bought the car. The only thing wrong is a "glitch" in the electronics: the diagnostic light goes on intermittently because of a temporary fault in the turbocharger pressure regulation solenoid valve. The part is ordered and will be replaced.

General Comments:

I have owned the 605 ST Turbo 2.0 for only 3 months now, but I've been in love with it for the last 5 years. The model is beyond words. I think it's the most beautiful car Peugeot ever made.

It drives smoothly and the performance is very good.

The interior is very complete and comfortable.

I can't comment yet on maintenance costs, but the fuel consumption is reasonable: 10 km/liter.

1996 Peugeot 605 SVDT 2.1 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Comfort, economy and reliability in dated styling

Faults:

Wheel bearing at 85,000.

Water pump at 135,000.

Left front track rod end at 85,000 and 135,000.

General Comments:

Big, comfortable, economical car. Returns a consistent 44mpg since engine opened out at 20,000 miles. Lots of horror stories from other owners but proper servicing appears to ensure reliability.
