1991 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 DOHC turbo from North America

Summary:

Best small sports car to own of your personal use

Faults:

The transmission is leaking.

General Comments:

This car is different. At first I had planned to resale this car until I drove it around and could tell that it had more power to let out (surprised me). So I took the turbo apart to find that it had been blocked off with a loose rag.

After I rebuilt the turbo and done some major engine work. Also I had to fix all the brakes that was on there. I can do more burn outs, reach high speeds then most 350 small blocks. With about 300 dollars you can do just about anything you would like to do with your car. I never dreamed that a little four cyl could do stuff that 6 cyl could never dream of. The handling is so unbelievable. In mine you can easily take corners up to 60 (mph) plus around a 90 degrees. What I thought would be a good car to give to my sister! Is now my favorite car to drive and no one else will ever drive it. Not even my wife. If you have any questions. How to get yours running like a laser or anything you might have a problem with.

1991 Plymouth Laser 1.8 mitsubishi from North America

Summary:

Long live DSM!

Faults:

The sun vizor broke. The alternator had to be replaced. The previous alternator put out 12v. the new, about 15v.

The engine looks terrible. However, other owners before me might not have taken good care of it.

When I got it had no stereo. It still doesn't, but a Sony X-plode system might do the trick.

General Comments:

The car is great!

It has a nice sound to it.

I can't help it when I see a Honda next to me, made to look good, to kill it. I hate it when people go around in old economical Honda Civic or Accord. I like to show what I'm made of.

The Plymouth Laser is the cure for the common cars of the 90-95's of Honda and that other junk.

I heard that somebody reached 130mph max speed.

It could use a horse power booster or two. Like Tornado or some thing.

1991 Plymouth Laser DOHC 16 valve 2.0 from North America

Summary:

The car handled great till the tires came off!

Faults:

The tires, transmission, heater, lights.

General Comments:

I got the car at an auction for $350. I thought it was a great deal after replacing some minor things things.

Once all the repairs were done I took it for a drive. This is where the story gets tragic. It began to shake frantically. The front wheels all of a sudden fell off. I was then hit by 2 on coming cars. It was 3 months later when I got out of the hospital. My car was totaled. Before all this happened I thought the car was the greatest thing in my life because I was only 16 years old. Now I can't even get my licence back because the insurance is too high. I think this car could compared to the Viper because it is such a speed demon.

1991 Plymouth Laser from North America

Summary:

A cheap deal

Faults:

I bought the car from someone who was selling it for their son who is in college. I now know that probably wasn't a good idea. He thought that it might need just front brake pads which would be about 125$. After I bought the car the clutch fell apart. And I discovered I needed a total brake job. 830$ in repairs.

General Comments:

Besides those problems I had, it handles very well. The car picks up speed like a speed demon. It's pretty much my dream car.

The factory speakers were great, unfortunately I blew one of them out.

This is a great car and should be looked at by anyone who wants a fun and very very inexspensive car, it costed me only 1000$ (before the repairs). It's just a fun car. Even for a 91 it's still pretty cool, it not being turbo also makes it more dependable.

I live in Guatemala, Central America and bought my 1991 Plymouth Laser 6 months ago. Even though it is not an inexpensive car in our area, I'm sure I did one of my best investments ever. It's dependable, well handled on the road at high speeds, well supported by the Mitsubishi dealer and, most important, not a thief interesting target!
