1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE review from North America

"If you were married to it, you wouldn't divorce it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Both left and right tail light assemblies have broken off at the metal bolts.

The CD player fails to load CDs properly since about a year ago. A rebuilt unit costs more than a replacement.

The radio has a mind of its own and will begin raising the volume at random times, but most often when the steering wheel is turned. Steering wheel mounted controls no longer function.

Just had a coolant system bypass hose failure which resulted in the dealership replacing the entire upper intake assembly ($295 part, 3 hours labor @ $87/hour). I am still uncertain whether this was necessary and why the hole I was shown was not repairable with epoxy.

Have been living with a loud whine from the fuel pump for more than two years. Could be my fault for running the fuel tank down to fumes so often. Have not investigated cost to repair/replace since it does not affect car's performance.

Auto unlock no longer works on driver's side door.

General comments?

Very good fuel economy. For many years while I was commuting >35 miles each way to work, I averaged around 25 miles per gallon. I have gotten > 28 mpg consistently on long trips even as recently as June this year with 126,000 miles on the car.

Six way adjustable seat is very comfortable. Roomy for 5 adults. Trunk holds a lot.

I have always liked the automatic feature of the air conditioning. Just set the temperature you want it to be and it takes care of the rest. Also a great teaching tool for your young son or daughter as they switch between °F and °C on the display.

Tire wear has been excellent. Originals lasted beyond 80,000 miles and still have many miles to go on second set.
