1992 Pontiac Firebird Coupe review from North America
"Nothing more fun for the money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator failed, but I caught it early. The alternator failed because it was previously improperly installed.
Radiator fan was slow. I replaced it. Cheap repair.
New starter. I went through 3 of them. They seem to fail from heat.
Replaced coolant temperature fan switch. It is not working again, so I must fix again. This is becoming annoying. Not a very enjoyable thing to replace.
Window motor failed and the other side is starting to go. Replaced motor.
General comments?
I love this car.
For its age, it is very reliable.
I would not recommend this car to someone who treats their car poorly or does not know much about cars. If you do all the preventative maintenance and treat this car well then its totally reliable.
The performance is nice, but every car always needs to be faster.
My gas mileage is 15-20 in the city. Depending on how I drive. And 25-30 on the highway.
Also as a special bonus, every girl that I have ever dated loves this car also.
I will probably own more firebirds in the future.
