2004 Pontiac Montana 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Very poor.. wouldn't buy another one

Faults:

We have 2004 Pontiac Montana.. and I can sincerely say that it is nothing but problems.

Somethings so far I can relate to eg. ABS light on, leaking through door on passenger side, and through the compass temp display on the roof of the interior, bearings (wheel hubs), instrument cluster, minor things like handles, low heat in winter, low gear shift clunking (could be a grease problem) too numerous to mention.

General Comments:

Van is very spacious and has a nice interior, but the motor part and electricals are very poor at doing the job right.

2004 Pontiac Montana Ext 3.4 from North America

Summary:

Would still buy another GM, but stay away from this van

Faults:

AC is consistently not working, also has had to be re-filled several times even though it's rarely used.

Windshield wiper motor broke (twice). Both wipers are CONSTANTLY going out of alignment; when you go to shut them off, they will attempt to go down but will spring back up and stay up. Dealer has replaced the necessary part many times and has replaced the entire wiper assemblies.

Odd clunking noise coming from somewhere underneath the car.

The starter has been replaced (around 60 000 kms).

Radio LCD has faded halfway, sometimes it doesn't work at all, and the CD player decides not to work sometimes.

The transmission slips and has a hard time going from reverse to drive. If you're braking then accelerating again, the tranny will sometimes kick. The rear windshield washer doesn't work periodically.

General Comments:

Not much luck with this car, have had many problems. The 3.4L is decent, surprisingly has quite a bit of power and hasn't given me any trouble.

Summary:

I am very satisfied with the performance of the van

Faults:

I have had only one issue, the power sliding door would not close properly, handled under warranty.

General Comments:

The van has been very reliable, no mechanical issues. I am averaging about 20 mile MPG combined.

The interior comfort is good, the only regret is not getting the DVD player.

2004 Pontiac Montana LX 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

I love this van, very nice looking and runs well.

Faults:

Changed Tires at 80,000 KMS and van was not even 2 years old.

Plastic side panels squeak.

Transmission seems to be slipping - it only happens slightly when the van is accelerating at low speeds after van has sat over night.

Drivers window button for passengers window doesn't work well - its hit or miss.

General Comments:

The van has good acceleration and drives like a car.

Seats are very comfortable for long trips. (Like our Edmonton to New York Trip - 10,000kms in 12 days!) The DVD came in handy then!

Lots of room in the back for people and cargo. Love the 3rd row fold down seat for more cargo room.

Reliable van, gets you where you need to go and back.

Overall, the van has treated us well, so far. I hope we don't have problems with the head gasket, as it seems to be a hot button issue! Nothing yet, but I will definitely keep an eye on it.

2004 Pontiac Montana LX V6 from North America

Summary:

This minivan is the Champagne of all minivans

General Comments:

We have been looking for a new used minivan for about a week, when we found a Pontiac Montana. We loved the car as soon as we saw it. The dealer made it so easy to love the car. The dealership went out of their way to sell this minivan to us.

The van drives great, the room is unbelievable. We have three children and they always have friends with them. The eighth seat comes in handy real fast. The car is comfortable wherever you sit. The seats fold down so easy that our six year old could do it herself.

I am so happy with my car and the dealership. I would recommend both to every one. My last van was a Ford Windstar. We had problems from the beginning. I am so thankful that we found our new love of a car.
