2004 Porsche Boxster 986 2.7 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

You can even get a set of golf clubs in the back boot

Faults:

Nothing, the only comment is the soft top has crease marks. I have seen other soft tops with this problem; it's a common fault, the soft top does not leak.

General Comments:

I bought my 2004 Boxster 2.7 – 986 through eBay private sale.

It is basic compared to my BMW convertible, which came with a lot of toys. One option I do miss is the cruise control on that long motorway drive. Remember it’s a thoroughbred sports car, not a soft luxury car. So drive it.

The engine feels strong and the body feels stiff. Controls, doors, boots etc are very German.

You can even get a set of golf clubs in the back boot.

When you rev over 3500 RPM, the sound from the exhaust is very Porsche.

Have a go at doing some simple maintenance i.e. air & pollen filters and plug. Access to the engine compartment is easy and fun; also it makes you part of the car. Get the oil and oil filter done at a garage for the stamp in the book. Also there is a good web site www.pedrosgarage.com and of course YouTube. Life is too short, it’s a bloody Porsche, buy one...

2004 Porsche Boxster 2.7 2.7 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Don't hesitate, life is too short and this car too good!

Faults:

Nothing. Simply nothing has gone wrong with my car.

General Comments:

Although the last of the old model and many of my criticisms have been addressed in the current car, I never fail to be amazed at the way my car drives. The interior is a bit basic, the seat and steering wheel don't have enough adjustment and desirable extras can see the cost rise dramatically. But this is not a luxury car. It is a thoroughbred sports car. When the shine rubs off on the BMW Z4 and Honda S2000 the Porsche continues to sparkle. It's not the badge, it's the engineering, the brilliant concept and the way it does what it does. After two years including a 2,500 mile trip around Switzerland and southern France, I am still learning about the weekend car I keep in my garage. I took it to a track day recently and it blew me away. The delicate handling. Those brakes. Wow!
