2007 Proton Satria Neo GXR 1.6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

No dealer support, crap and cheap

Faults:

Where do I start...

Fuel pump changed twice.

Fuel injector rail failed.

Airbag clock spring gone.

Water pump seal.

Front suspension too low, noises as well.

Reverse sensor failed twice. Still doesn't work properly.

Alarm doesn't work sometimes, have to use the key to lock it (not the battery).

MP3 player skips.

Overheated twice, radiator hose blew off.

All four speakers failed.

General Comments:

Well I have really taken care of this car since new, but a lot of things did go wrong with the fuel delivery system, even though we always used 95-98 octane.

I have changed the oil every 3000km or 3 months since new. The engine appears in good nick and very clean. Doesn't lose any oil.

Gearbox serviced every two years, and timing belt + idler + water pump changed at the 5 year mark.

The problem with this car in Australia is dealer support and finding parts. Proton does not belong in Australia. Maybe they're good for Asia or something; it's ridiculous. It took 2 years to get a recall fixed in Sydney Australia, and only Dale Ford was able to do it for Proton. They keep closing and opening dealerships, but nothing is certain.

2009 Proton Satria Neo M-Line 1.6 from Malaysia

Summary:

Excellence

Faults:

The original paint is too thin, and is easily damaged when exposed to small stones on the road.

When turning, it sounds like there will be friction, and I do not know where the culprit is.

General Comments:

The price is worth the quality and performance.

Nice work from Proton.

Not suitable for a large family.

Summary:

Not bad

Faults:

1st week, the dashboard make noise on bumpy roads.

That's about it.

General Comments:

Pickup is fair, 0-100 is 10 seconds. From 100 onwards, the car picks up pretty well... not bad I would say.

Good handling.

Petrol consumption is okay..

Very stable up to 160km/h.

The dashboard makes noises as I drive on bumpy roads.

Sound system not so great.

No coin box.

Would be awesome if they come up with shifting pedals.
