2003 Proton Wira 1.5 limited edition from Malaysia

Expensive and USELESS

1st : 2 rear suspension oil leak. Sent back to dealer, the technicians stuffed small pieces of cloth into it. What an uneducated act. I got it changed myself.

2nd : The car suddenly turned off. Just merely a year and the petrol pump is dead.

3rd : Find it hard to shift into gears. Thanks to the bad clutch.

4th : Door actuator could not function.

5th : Windows could not wind up or down, thanks to the cheap plastic parts.

6th : The engine needs tuning all the time. If you ever disconnect the battery, the tuning will be gone and back to default. The problem is, the default setting has knocking problems. The engine rattles a lot. Need to re tune all the time.

7th : The car gave me special sound effects after just few months old. I can hear lots of squeaking, rattling sound. Thanks to you Proton, I do not need to spend a lot for my IN CAR ENTERTAINMENT.

General Comments:

I owned a Wira 1.5 (M) limited edition with dual air bags and leather seats. All I can say about the car is, it's a waste of money.

Besides, the performance is totally sluggish comparing to other 1500cc vehicles. Try any Vios or City. It is totally day and night.

Well, now that I have sold it off and own my Celica, what a big big difference.

Thank you Proton for convincing and ensuring me that I will not be repeating my stupidity again to purchase your products.

2003 Proton Wira Sedan 1.5L from Malaysia

Malaysian car TAK BOLEH!

My sister bought a Wira 3 years ago. One of the day when I took this car for service, the foreman told me, this car is exhausting motor oil (oil level dropped, however there is no leakage). He even firmly stressed that based on his experience of this local design engine, all Proton Wira 2001 made (and onwards) has this problem.

Over the last 3 years, I drove quite a few Wira cars, the pick up performance great deteoriated after 10,000km mileage.

Proton has been in Malaysia market for at least 20 years. We acquired Lotus for more than 10 years, and yet there is no improvement in the local design. Even the new Gen 2 car is having very high fuel consumption. What benefits that we paid for the Lotus technology??? Same goes to the Europe motorcycle company, we bail out the company at 1 dollar??? Why such decision was made without anyone being charge??? These are public fund, someone got to hold responsible for the unscrupulous act.

Can anyone comments, why, we, Malaysian always claims to be "BOLEH" and did not really show that we are really BOLEH?

Does the protectism really help Malaysia to be a "BOLEH" country?

General Comments:

Lousy, strongly not recommended!

In my opinion, we should scrapped the Proton entity, we should explore more high end cars to be locally assemblied to supply the Asia region. The same analogy as what Thailand is doing now.

I Agreed with you experience. "BOLEH" means can build an engine, but no quality. "BOLEH" for "QUANTITY" but not "QUALITY".

The problem with Proton is it's the idea and the darling of our former dearest PM, and until now we are forced to inherit the mistakes he made, in the name of national pride. Nobody should buy a substandard car only due to patriotism alone.

The way Proton manages itself seems nearly a joke, and I'm glad tengku mahaleel is out of the picture. The disposal of Augusta at 1 euro wasn't a mistake, it was the only way out. It was the acquisition of Augusta in the first place which was the big mistake. Anybody who has eyes will see that the whole mess can be traced back to Tun himself...

Let's show Proton that our buying power goes to other higher quality car makers. If it forces Proton to improve then that would be the most patriotic thing we can do...

Too bad if compare with other manufactures

The car was vibrate seriously once I bought it from car dealer.

The dashboards started de-laminates after few months.

The suspensions started to feel like very soft after 5 months.

Low handling. (While sharp cornering).

Service dealer said the vibration is common for 1300cc model.

Try two others same model's car but no vibration.

Unexperience maintanance staff. Reset the E.C.U and make it more terrible.

Under power.

Unknown sound appears in every inch of car.

The tires were wear out seriously after 10000 km.

Stability are very poor.

Rear door handle were worn out after a month.

Boot cannot be open on the back by using key after 2 weeks.

Sounds while braking.

Engine & others belting sound seriously.

General Comments:

Proton, please look into your car's quality seriously.

Improve sound-proved systems & overcome the vibrations problems.
