2000 Renault Espace RXDT 2.2 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A total and utter disaster

Faults:

Master cylinder went after 4 weeks of ownership. Both rear wheel bearings needed replacing at the same time. Tyre wear is unbelievable. Had to replace all four tyres for the first mot. Serious water leak ruined carpets and under seat stereo. Central locking failed. Imobiliser failed. Steering failed. Near side suspension spring snapped.

General Comments:

This car is seriously sluggish. No power from the turbo and not as economical as it should be. The staff I spoke to at the main dealers were very unhelpful.

2000 Renault Espace 2.0 16v from Hong Kong

Summary:

Generally a good family people carrier

Faults:

The Right mirror dropped out on the 2nd day of service and was replaced by the local agent immediately when reported.

Air-con value (not sure exactly what's the parts named) failed on deliver and replaced by local agent on 1st service at 1000 km.

A light bulb in shift column panel burned after 8000 km. Replaced by local agent at my cost.

Digits on speedometer did not illuminate after 9000 km.

General Comments:

Good family MPV, but under-power for a 2.0 petrol engine when driving up-hill.

Comfortable inside for front and rear seats.

Electrical faults are a common problem for Renault.

2000 Renault Espace RT/X 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Still by far the best MPV

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The fourth generation of the world's favourite MPV. Renault provide a mixture of comfort, performance and reliability. Drive it hard and you will go very quickly. Drive it soft and you can hold a conversation with the guy in the rear set of seats. Bags of storage and fabulous in-car features.
