2016 Renault Kadjar TCE Dynamique 1.2 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Just say no

Faults:

The car broke down - flat battery. Electronic "handbrake" also jammed on and the car had to be moved with the wheels dragging locked for a bit. Why can't they just give us a mechanical lever??!?!

There were a few more things but nothing serious. For clarity, this is a pool car I use a lot at work, but do not own, boss takes care of all the repairs, but I do know everything that is going on with it. He says it is average at best in reliability, and has been pretty expensive to repair.

General Comments:

Good points - it is OK to drive and pretty comfortable.

Bad points - everything else. I have drove many of these stupid crossover vehicles at work over the years; every one of them is either unreliable, stupid looking and dull, or both.

The Kadjar is no different. Ugly, boring, and I will never understand the appeal of these things. Looking at the used prices a 2016 Kadjar with low mileage still goes for near enough around £10,000, I could think of much better cars for the money. Would you pay 10K for a lump of modern trash? Neither would I.

Boss says he has a treat for us soon though, rumor has it it will be an Audi A4 and he is not buying this type of vehicle again. I do not even need to drive the Audi to know it will be automatically better (I had an Audi 80 back in the day and it was excellent), so cannot wait to see the back of this ugly thing!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Update to the review, the Renault has been sold by the company and as promised we have in replacement an Audi A4 nearly brand new (review soon-ish when I've done some good mileage in it). First impressions are that it is an obviously better car to drive than the Renault, and very fast.

Looking back at the review I was a little harsh on the Kadjar. Don't get me wrong - it is still an overrated and overpriced dull modern car, but reliability was not as bad as the old Nissan Qashqai we had before the Ford Kuga at work. I'd still avoid modern crossovers if you can, none of them have any real appeal, there are so much better cars for the money.
