1986 Rover - Austin Montego 2.0 Efi from Denmark

Summary:

Hurricane on wheels..

Faults:

Due to an oil leak (caused by a worn rubber ring), the engine was re-built at 130.000 km.

A lot of rust work from 220.000 km and on and on...

General Comments:

Very hard to get spare parts at all these days in Denmark.

Fantastic car - underestimated - think about building this car with today's technology. A dream within a dream...

1986 Rover - Austin Montego Mayfair 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

I have had this car for 20 months now and it is a superb machine. It has never failed to start. It needed slight attention to the wheel arches at the rear. Has all the gadgets and they all work fine at 12yrs old. Even the electrically heated door mirrors. Has an oil leak that is in need of attention and the on board computer causes the odd problem but other than that a real gem that I enjoy driving.

General Comments:

Cannot fault this car apart from a few gremlins with the computer. Was cheap to buy, has smart interior, walnut dash, all the gadgets, fast enough and returns about 38mpg on a steady run. Work out what it cost to buy, what it costs to run and cost per mile and it scores 10 out of 10. A truly reliable British Motor Car. I hope the four star ban does not become law. That will be a sad day!
