1985 Skoda 1000 V6 Ford 2.3L 120Hp from Czech Republic

Faults:

Nothing except minor stuff.

General Comments:

Totally rebuilt as a Czechoslovakian hot rod. I used Ford V6 engine from a Taunus. I put better 5 speed Skoda transmission from 1991, I made bigger the size of airholes. New brake system installed (Skoda Rapid).

It has silver paint, 17s on the rear. Terrible sound and power. Great fun!!

1959 Skoda 1000 MB 1.0 from Italy

Summary:

A great classic to enjoy

Faults:

I bought the car as a restoration project it was imported from Germany.

I totally rebuilt the body, upholstery and engine.

General Comments:

Although high mileage, the car has been 100% reliable, and it's great to drive, I did a few modifications to the braking system and changed the seats.

A 1959 Skoda MB 1000? But the model was released in 1964!

Best regards from Italy

The Skoda 1000 MB which stands for Mlada Boleslav was released in 1966 on the international market. I was the proud owner of a 1968 model. It was slow, due to the small engine capacity, but it was a lot of fun to drive. I loved the positioning of the spare wheel, in its own compartment underneath the boot, which was in the front of the car. The rear suspension with split axles caused the car to over-steer, so cornering at speed was fraught with some trepidation as well as excitement. Thankfully, I never rolled mine, but I remember some who did. The car was very solidly built, but the paintwork was a bit of a disappointment- as it faded quite badly within a few years. The climate here in Australia, is very sunny for most of the year and the Skoda was obviously not designed for our type of weather. I owned quite a number of Skodas including a 1962 Octavia, a 1977 1100 as well as a 120L. They were all good cars, but I think my favourite was the front engined 62 Octavia- but then I suppose it has a lot of sentimental appeal- as it was my first car!

I bought a 1959 Skoda Felicia convertible without an engine. It is in good condition except for the engine. I would be very thankful to anyone who can give me information on where to find one, or if another one can be adapted. Miguel Chavez, sani_chavez@yahoo.com.
