1991 Skoda Favorit Forum 1.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Such a bargain

Faults:

It has been the model of reliability so far. All that appears wrong is the offside rear reversing light and fog light do not work.

General Comments:

For a 1.3 performance is quite reasonable and fuel economy is brilliant.

The car was a great bargain it only cost me £100 with a full years MOT.

1991 Skoda Favorit LS 1.3 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

I rolled a Skoda at 90mph!!!

Faults:

Smashed n/s suspension unit whilst off roading near the local kebab van.

Blew brake servo trying to slow down from 90 for a roundabout.

General Comments:

Fitted with a full stainless steel custom made exhaust, which made it blow 2 foot flames out the back.

Very good if you want a laugh!

Faster than a nova SR if driven to about 7000 rpm.

Pulls 100mph at 4000 rpm.

Unfortunatly rolled at 90 mph, oops.

The problem with the head gasket is not resulting from a bad thermostat only, it is also resulting from bad cooling liquid added at the factory. After exchanging the head gasket and cooling liquid, the problem is solved.

Other problems that my Skoda has are the dashboard is too noisy because it don't have strong material and rust is coming out at the bottom corner of the front doors, and the speedometer is not working because it had the cable cut.

1991 Skoda Favorit 136L 1300 ohv from Australia and New Zealand

It's been sworn at and kicked many times!

Faults:

- New electronic ignition module.

- New fuel hoses.

- New front struts.

- Fuel pump leaked fuel directly into sump.

- Distributor disintegrated.

- Reversing and fog lights don't work.

- Rear window demister only works sometimes.

- Headlights sometimes only work on high beam.

- Heater coolent leak.

- Weak alternator

General Comments:

This car has cost me what I paid for it, again in repairs, approx 5 to NZ$6000 (US$3000) over 4 years.

Engine very coarse and noisy, however enough power for around town.

Rides well and seats four people with room to spare.

Fifth gear very high, with quiet cruising at 100kms but little power available.
