1995 Skoda Felicia GLX combi 1.3LTR from Malta

Summary:

A cheap, very reliable and practical car

Faults:

Near the aerial paint has faded and rust came out, rust also came out on the rear windscreen frame, very common on local Skodas at least mechanical nothing.

General Comments:

The car is very slow and underpowered.

It is a pity the 1.6ltr was not introduced in Malta it would have been a better option for the heavier estate.

Due to power to weight ratio it is not that economical.

Overall I am very pleased with the car is nearly 10years old and used daily it remained looking good for the age it has got and the work it has done.

From Barbados

1995 model

This is my first Skoda and I would buy the Octavia if I had the money. The Felicia blew head gasket because of a faulty warning temperature light and a radiator problem. The car is sturdily built and fuel efficient. The steering is rather hard, but my main problem at present is having to warm-up the engine for 5 minutes everytime, especially in hilly areas to prevent engine cutting out.

1995 Skoda Felicia GLX combi 1.3 from Malta

Summary:

A real value for money

Faults:

The lock of the fuel filler cap had to be changed after 2 years because the key couldn't open.

General Comments:

The car is an excellent one it has been 8 years in the family and only one fault mentioned above turned out.

The interior is very well designed and welcomes you tough the material of the floor mats is not that good.

The 1.3 engine is good around town, but not that fast, but the 1.3 was the only option in Malta before the diesel was introduced about a year after.

1995 Skoda Felicia LX Combi 1.3 petrol engine from Czech Republic

Summary:

Big, reliable and quite comfortable low cost car

Faults:

The end part of the exhauster system fell apart very soon (after 5 years) It is common problem, but the local dealer changed it immediately and it was very cheap (about 50 USD).

Two of the spark plug cables had to be changed quite soon - very very cheap - less than TWO USD!!!

I also had to change the brake pads (10USD) (after 40,000 km), later tyres and one bulb in the rear light. All these trivialities are not expensive and you have to do it on every car.

General Comments:

The car is reliable and the parts are very cheap and easy to get. The construction is simple, so it is possible to do some repairs on your own. The seats are comfortable - even the rear seats.

The trunk of the Combi version is excellent!! Big and easy to get the cargo in.

The overall quality of the interior is average. The design is good... especially the design of the dashboard. Handling is fine, but the power steering is missing.

The engine is little bit noisy on the highway and the fuel efficiency in the city could be better. Better to buy a 1.6, because the 1.3 is weak for such a big and heavy car.

The later version of the car (different front end) is better. Higher quality and better undercarriage.
