2025 Skoda Superb DSG 2.0 TDI from Iceland

Summary:

Traditional mechanics and top-tier luxury

Faults:

No issues so far; I bought the car new last year.

No maintenance required over 25,000 kilometers.

General Comments:

The car is practically new, but 25,000 km is more than enough to give a general overview of this great car.

In a mix of city, highway, and country roads, to get straight to the point, it is absolutely fantastic.

The massage seats are incredible, super comfortable, with both heating and cooling. They really hug you in the corners, and you can adjust almost everything.

The Canton sound system is good; in my opinion, it needs some EQ tweaking to boost the bass and subwoofer a bit, but it really comes alive when you turn up the volume.

I opted for the dynamic chassis, so the suspension has 15 (!!) different settings. In the most comfortable mode, it glides over rough roads and feels very smooth. In the stiffest setting, wow, you can feel every single bump. For everyday driving, I usually keep mine somewhere between Normal and Sport; that’s the best balance for me.

The panoramic roof is also a brilliant addition; having owned two MX-5s, I’ve always missed the experience of putting the top down, and this offers at least a taste of that feeling.

Interior space is plentiful: in other cars, I’ve had to slide the passenger seat forward to stop my young son from kicking it from behind. That’s not an issue in this car. Plus, with the added family package, there’s a phone/tablet holder to keep him happy on long journeys, as well as built-in roller blinds, meaning I don’t have to stick ugly Amazon sunshades onto the car. This also allows the windows to be opened, since the blinds aren't attached directly to the glass.

I’ve owned a few new cars over the last few years: a 120d, 330e, i20N, and CX-60. This car feels far more premium than any of them. The Skoda is the closest to the 330e in terms of price and vehicle type, so that’s the fairest comparison. The CX-60 was the most recent one before this, and it was a terrible car; I’m really glad to be in the Superb now.

If anyone is looking for a decent-sized family car, definitely go check one of these out; it’s packed with nice little touches that make it great. There are hooks in the back to secure shopping bags, keeping bottles and cans from rolling around when you go around a corner. A foot sensor for the trunk that opens it if your hands are full. Little tabs in the cup holder that let you open a soda bottle with one hand. A small clip on the windshield to hold parking tickets. The list goes on.

The engine also deserves special attention. It is Volkswagen's classic TDI, an engine that is like gold dust these days. That is precisely why I chose the diesel over the petrol version.

A piece of advice: If you're thinking of buying a Superb like this one, choose a colored interior if you can, it makes a HUGE difference to the look. I have the cognac brown interior, and it’s stunning compared to the black one. But either way, you won't be disappointed. It’s great news that a sedan like this is still being made; the market isn't just full of SUVs, and that makes me happy.
