My friend owns a 1999 3.2l petrol Musso that I have been trying to help out with, as it has been cutting out intermittently, then completely stops. Has been to a dealer where they stuffed around with it for three months, and still didn't fix it. I have located a clicking noise under the dash that coincides with the engine cutting out, and have demonstrated this to my auto electrician. I have seen posts of similar problems, but no solutions. Anyone?

We bought our Musso pickup new in 2004. The gearbox went within 2 months. This was replaced under warranty with a Borg Warner gearbox fortunately. Since then I have put 150,000ks on her.
The only problem I found was the electric windows, but they go in most cars. We have had 5 glow plugs replaced this year. We now have experienced an expensive transfer case meltdown. Brand new these cost 6,000. I was told we replaced with a second hand one that had only done 50,000, and still cost 3325. But it has been a beaut workhorse. My husband loves it, as he now has it for his work after putting a cab on the back, which is also great for our camping trips.

Bought new Musso Sport 4x2 automatic in 2007, done 65,000kms, only problem, a rear window cannot open via driver remote controls, 1 battery last year, servicing every 10,000kms, changed autobox oil early just in case. Never any problems whatsoever. Put catback open exhaust + KN air filter, goes like a bomb, original Kumho tires still good for 10,000kms more. They are still available here for US$22.000 with all options. Mauritius.

Thanks for these comments. You just saved me 1200.00. I was trying to work out why the mileage was so low. The answer must be because it spends such a lot of time in the garage!

Just stumbled across this site and thought I'd let you know about my Musso 2.0D SE.
Bought in 1997 for £8000, it's a 1995 and it had 18,000 miles.
I've been all over UK and Europe, not once has it let me down. It's now done 160,000, everything original until last week, needed to put two bottom ball joints on, at £40 for both. Took gearbox out as 5th gear giving problems, cost to repair was £50, put new clutch in at a cost of £107.
Besides filters, oils, pad's etc, all still original, exhaust, discs etc. Will change disc before next mot, cost £104 for all four including pads and P&P.
This is the best car for value for money I've ever had, and expect to post again in another 100,000 miles.
If people serviced regularly and looked after their car, it should last at least 25 years.
Nearly forgot, 37mpg on a run and 30+ running around.
Less slagging off the Musso and more TLC will save you £'s.
Yours
Mark.
