"A head turning classic"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Electric window switch failed.

Power steering reservoir leaks.

Unresolved intermittent loss of power.

4 coil packs + leads (£400 pounds - ouch!)

Everything rattles.

General comments?

For an 8 year old high performance car I cannot really complain about the few faults I have had in the last 2 and a half years.

It is such a shame that I cannot resolve the intermittent loss of power, otherwise I would class this car as perfect.

My local garages have little experience on this type of car and the main dealers refuse to touch it because it is a grey import. To me this is very childish and only damages their image - especially as there are so many grey imports now in the UK.

When it runs well it is a pleasure to drive, but the 17 inch rims and hard suspension can rattle a few fillings.

If you drive it hard it will drink fuel at a sickening rate, but the grip is unbelievable so it just begs to be pushed.

When parts wear out they are very expensive from Subaru. Take a tip from me and try townendgarage.co.uk. They have saved me an fortune with used parts. However from what other owners have said you will probably not need to!

I have a 1993 Subaru Impreza. It has been a great car except for an intermittment loss of power. The mechanic who works with Mercedes, Lexus and BMW's cannot find the source of this problem. While driving you can feel that the car is losing power. It then stalls and the lights come on. Put it into park or neutral and restart it and it will start immediately. It may not happen again for weeks or even months. Any ideas?

If you need an expert on Imprezas, if you live somewhere in the South of England, look up East Sussex Mobile Services based in a little village called Berwick in Sussex. It's a little business run by a father and son, but they have been doing Subaru's for about 20 years and can solve a problem like your power loss by just looking at it!

Email me on Jimmydee74656@aol.com if you need any more info - they have saved me a fortune and I would highly recommend them!
