1985 Suzuki Samurai 1.3 litre from North America

Summary:

The best 4X4

Faults:

Nothing went wrong with this 4X4.

Regular maintenance, brakes, battery, oil etc...

Head gasket had to be changed at 110 000Km, cost $25.

Bearing had to be replaced at 120 000 Km, cost $60.

Vehicle started to rust badly at 130 000 Km.

New paint at 130 000 Km (1994), cost $300 done by my neighbor.

New fabric roof at 140 000 Km, cost $150.

Radio cassette broke at 145 000 Km.

Needed a new clutch at 155 000 Km, cost $250.

General Comments:

Bought new in Quebec City in August 1985. My first car!

I have abused this 4X4 and it has never broken down.

I used it every week, in the bush, with my winch.

Bad handling on the road, but quick enough.

I have never visited the dealer (there was no dealer in my area).

I sold this Suzuki for $1000 to my neighbor 10 years ago.

It is still working today (with a snow shovel during winter time).

I still have regrets about not keeping it.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
