1987 Suzuki Samurai 1.3 from North America

Summary:

A great little Jeep

Faults:

The car needed a major service (valve adjustment, tires, belts, etc..), but otherwise was in very good shape.

I put almost 20 thousand miles on it and the only problem was that the starter stopped working intermittently. I replaced it and have had no other problems.

General Comments:

When I got the car, I didn't like the stock seats. I purchased a set of Swift seats modified to fit the Samurai from hawk strictly suzuki, and they are extremely comfortable.

It does very well on the trails and the rough stuff, and is reliable as can be.

It is a very capable Off-Road vehicle even without modification.

It does lack power, but a few engine mods and some tuning will quickly end that problem.

1987 Suzuki Samurai JA 1.3 from North America

Summary:

My magic Samurai...

Faults:

20,000 mi, distributer.

45,000 mi. and 80,000 mi, minor electrical cabling.

100,200 mi. battery cables.

General Comments:

Used in commercial service to access remote radio transmitter sites, frequently under dusty and rough conditions. Absolutely amazingly reliable, required first tow ever at 100,000+ mi. Bought near-new, body now very rough but runs fine. Maintenance mostly consists of oil changes at 3k mile intervals and fluid checks.

1987 Suzuki Samurai JX 1.3 gas from North America

Faults:

With all the 4-wheeling I do, I go through u-joints rather quickly, but other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever.

General Comments:

Samurais are by far the best stock 4x4 for off-roading, with the possible exception of the AM General Hummer. I highly recommend this vehicle, it's the best purchase I have ever made!
