1993 Suzuki Sidekick from North America

Summary:

Very dependable but uncomfortable ride

Faults:

Basic tires, tune-up, changed coolant, A/C went out on it, but I live in cold state.

Back door is jammed.

In cold weather it won't go into gear till it warms up. Definitely need to remove spare tire that is mounted on back door 'cause you can't see out rear view mirror!

General Comments:

Took this car on many 300 mile trips, looks terrible but runs great. Highway comfort is terrible, though!

Parking is easy 'cause it's small!

1993 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6 from North America

Summary:

A great all purpose vehicle

Faults:

The exhaust manifold cracked and had to be replaced at around 140,000 km.

General Comments:

A great all purpose car. Plenty of interior room for four passengers, with tons of head room. Great cargo capacity. Excellent fuel economy, for the type of vehicle it is. Power is not that great, but then again it's a sport utility vehicle, not a race car. The four wheel drive system is fantastic in the winter time, and allows the vehicle to travel through snow drifts with ease.

I own a 1992 suzuki sidekick, I love the car and in fact it's my third suzuki (the other two where Samurai's). I just replaced the entire exhaust system at 69,000 miles when the mechanic informed me the exhaust manifold was cracked in two places. He told me to find the part and he would install it for me. Since then I have been to several salvage yards and found that those that still had the the manifolds all had cracks in the same place. I have also found that finding the new part is so far impossible.
