1985 Suzuki Sierra JX 1.3 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great if you want/need a small (tiny) 4WD

Faults:

Head Gasket - blew 3 days after buying car.

Rear Main Seal - went 3 hours after getting car back from new head gasket.

Clutch - was slipping due to oil leakage from rear main.

Auto Choke - disconnected, had to be hooked up.

Hot Idle Compensator - engine stalls at low revs when hot.

Starter Motor - new bushes, brushes and armature.

General Comments:

Astonishing performance from a 1300.

Great off-road except low range a little too high, rock-hopper gears would be good.

Handles very well.

Extremely cheap on fuel.

Bumpy ride in mine, but that could be cause of aftermarket shock absorbers.

1985 Suzuki Sierra JX 1.3 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great value for money, when things don't go wrong!

Faults:

Blew head gasket after 3 days of owning the car. Cost AU$800 to fix. Got it back and blew the clutch and rear main gasket 3 hours later! In the workshop as I write this!

Came with heaps of really crap stickers on the sides, have had to spend hours getting these off.

General Comments:

Excellent 4wd for its price.

Excellent fuel economy.

Excellent condition for an 85 model.
