Dude! to avoid that, you can make your sj410 transmission, a 5 speed one with the gears of a samurai transmission.

I am interested to have an cheap off road machine. One of my friend advised me SJ410. Unfortunately I am not able to make decision because when I check vehicle classified, its very rear if you find any add of this vehicle. People say its maintaineness is very difficult due to its expensive parts.

Kindly advise me.

1990 Suzuki SJ410 SANTANA 1.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Cost efficient fun 4x4

Faults:

Had some trouble with the clutch and gear box. The new clutch that was fitted slipped and one of the spindles joining the gear box to the clutch cracked. Both not major jobs at all!

Current problem is that the drive shaft has cracked which I'm told isn't unexpected in 4x4, this too, doesn't cost much and is a straight forward job!

General Comments:

It may not be the fastest car on the road, but it makes up for it with the smile it puts on my face! It is a seriously fun car to drive, due to the very unique driving position. It's fairly comfortable for a jeep and space is not a problem.

It has proved very cheap to run and has always been fairly reliable.

Listening to the stereo whilst driving can be a problem due to the loud engine, but considering it has such a small engine, it growls!

Doesn't handle amazingly on the road, but will stand up to a lot off-road.
