Faults:

Springs, exhaust, brakes, usual mechanical for mileage.

Air con a bit weak.

Battery.

Changed the cam-belt, well worth doing if you plan to keep these cars beyond 100K mileage. There is a small oil leak, but not serious.

Stupid inflation kit failed when I had a puncture. Not really the car's fault I know, but I wish they would give us a spare wheel instead of these stupid repair kits that are in most post year 2000 modern cars!

General Comments:

2013 Astra SRi still feels fresh and modern for a 10 year old car.

Great looking car when you look at it closely - never really noticed these cars till I bought one as they are modern and do not really stand out. The right color and trim make a difference. Black (best color) SRi trim looks very smart with the alloy wheels. Inside is nice too - sports seats are very comfortable. Suspension a little stiffer than on regular models - but not uncomfortably so. Has all the electrics you would expect. Steering wheel feels nice - leather wrapped. Good visibility and driving position. Quite spacious for its size.

1.6 16v petrol is fast enough for me while doing 40 - 45 mpg. Easily more reliable than the diesels, and worth that little extra on fuel over the weaker 1.4 petrol. Change the oil and any belts and you're good for high mileage with this simple proven engine.

Love it, just a bloody brilliant and reliable little car that does most things very well.

Faults:

Had a lot of suspension work recently and some to the brakes as well. Nothing I wouldn't expect from a car with over 100K now.

Interior is OK but the driver's seat has a tear. Climate control has seen better days; it works but just not as cold, may just need a re gas.

Was a looked after good condition car upon purchase and I have continued to service it on time. Exterior looks as good as new, impressive for a 9 year old car.

General Comments:

My Astra is a pretty boring car. "Energy" is a basic trim, go for an SRi or Elite model, they have much more. This has front electric windows and nice alloy wheels and that is about it!

1.4 isn't up to much either, performance is average, but it will regularly do over 40 mpg which is OK. Still I think a 1.6 or 1.8 is more suited to this car. Not bad to drive though, comfortable enough and handles OK.

Smart looking interior and exterior in my opinion. Spacious small family car and is reliable enough, hard to say much more. Boring but cheap to run. However as mentioned earlier, surely the higher trim levels with bigger engines are more exciting and you should definitely look for those if buying used and be patient, there are lots of these cars on the market, try and avoid basic cars with higher mileage, they don't hold value well.

Faults:

No major faults or anything worth mentioning. Wear and tear items replaced as expected, and I keep the car serviced on time. The car is however relatively low mileage for its age.

General Comments:

My grey (why is every car in the UK this color?) Astra has been an excellent vehicle for me; my only complaint is that it is a very boring car, and the grey color does not do it any favors. Alloy wheels look good though.

Active is a decent spec with plenty of electrics. Interior is spacious enough, and the car is comfortable cruising on motorways.

Not that fun to drive, but the 1.6 petrol is fast enough for most drivers, quiet and refined, and with over 40 mpg I think is well worth considering over the diesels.
