1996 Vauxhall Corsa Premier 1.2 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent economical runabout

Faults:

Indicator switch.

Lots of bulbs.

Rear exhaust box.

General Comments:

Brilliant car, used as a learner vehicle for most of its life. Much better than my rubbish Peugeot 206 I own now. Anyone want to buy it?

1996 Vauxhall Corsa Merit 1.2i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Cheap to run and bags of fun

Faults:

Not had any problems with the car yet apart from a couple of blown tail light bulbs..

General Comments:

I think the Corsa is a vast improvement over the Nova, it is a solidly built car with a frisky little engine which never fails to please. It has to be one of the best small cars around.

1996 Vauxhall Corsa Sport Si 1.4 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Engine management warning light came on once, the car spluttered to a stop. I then turned the ignition key, the car started no problems ever since.

General Comments:

The handling is the worst I've ever experienced, grip is minimal and non-existent in the wet. The power steering is way too light - simply not communicative. Plus the gear change is notchy beyond belief. This car was designed for women to go shopping!! On the plus side build quality is reasonable and great engine - gutsey/economical.

1996 Vauxhall Corsa LS Auto 1.4 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Orange light on dash after 7,500 miles, so far ignored! Seems to be triggered by radio or electric fields, as point of illumination is location dependent. Does anyone know the reason?

General Comments:

Pleasant car with poor ride on some undulating surfaces. Underpowered in auto form. Dealers to be avoided at all times. Also do not reply to Vauxhall confidential surveys, and tell the truth about the poor service quality, as the dealer appears to be informed, and you get unpleasant phone calls.

Faulty o/s window - come off its runners twice!

General Comments:

Nice wee car but relatively over-priced when you consider what you can get elsewhere.

I have a Corsa Sport 1.4 16v and it has had the same problem with the electric windows, mine has also fell off the runner twice, it's becoming an ongoing problem with my car!

I have owned a 1999 1.6 Corsa sport for the last 16 months and I am very pleased with it. The performance and handling is superb. The car is coming up to 45,000 miles and touch wood nothing major has gone wrong. Apart from routine servicing I have just had minor niggles such as the heater control illumination bulb not working.

1996 Vauxhall Corsa Sport 1.4 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

At about 10K miles and 10 months old the Engine Management Light came on, five visits to dealer later the problem was not cured. Eventually I dropped the vehicle off and asked not to see it again until it was fixed, 2 weeks later it was returned, fixed.

An oil seal broke, repairs followed at about 25K miles.

General Comments:

The steering is not as precise as it should be on a sport model, the engine is willing, and can be pushed hard. Overall it's not a bad small car.
