The heater matrix was leaking when I got the vehicle and has subsequently been replaced. This cost £300 at a local independent garage.
Front suspension bushes had worn and needed to be replaced.
A bit rusty in small patches although this is not as yet a serious problem.
A great car for transporting a young family.
A good vehicle for cruising about the countryside in.
I find it easy to drive in town and remarkably do not find it difficult to park.
It is a good, solid performer off road. In both snow and mud on all terrain tyres the Frontera has driven well and safely.
Roof racks allow easy transportation of bikes.
The kids love playing inside it.
I bought it as an entry to 4WD vehicles intending to buy a newer and more 'desirable' model later. Now I will not be bothering!
I have the same model car and the heater matrix has gone which needs replacing. My boyfriend wants to scrap it, but I want to keep it!! It's a great car i`m just having a couple of problems e. g it just had a new radiator.
Does anyone have any suggestions
Frontera 2,4 Diamond 5dr LWB L reg.
I have had the car a month or so and had to have a new clutch put in at my local independent garage (I knew the clutch was suspect!). I did not actually go to buy a 4WD, I was looking for something like an Astra estate, but I am glad I got my Frontera now, It is easily the most comfortable 4x4 I have been in and handles very well with a lot less body roll than I was expecting. It could do with more power, 2.4L and 1.75 metric tons is not exactly a ball of fire, but that said once up to speed its more than acceptable and I do not drive hard anyway. It would make a great car even better if there was a 2.6, 2.8 or 3.0 petrol option.
My only real gripe would be the lack of air conditioning as the ventilation isn’t brilliant so I have been driving around with all 4 windows and the sunroof open in this very hot weather. Absolutely Acres of room inside for front and rear passengers and the rear seats are very comfy (unlike a certain 4x4 I used to get a ride in) and a monstrous boot. All in all I am very very pleased with my Frontera and I would not have anything else. Why oh why did they stop making it
We rescued our 2.4 frontera from a man that can only be described as the adolf hitler of the car world, he'd just run it into the ground and left it to die on his driveway so we bought it cheap and did the work and I have to say it's the best 4x4 i've driven for a long time. I would go as far as to say I enjoy driving it more than the range rover we had, but it is a car that you love or hate usually the people that hate them have never driven one. All in all i'd give it a respectable 8 out of 10.

I recently bought a mint low miles, 1 owner 93 2.4i LWB Frontera for £1500. I was looking to buy a van and came across this and thought it was a good buy.
As it turned out it was. It is great to drive and in my opinion I'd say it's a better all rounder than my mates £25,000 110 TD5.
I'd always promised myself a TD5 in the future, but I think I'll stick to the Frontera. I wished I hadn't listened to all the bad press and bought one years ago.
Poor man's 4x4 they're rubbish!
