1998 Vauxhall Frontera TDi from UK and Ireland - Comments

"A solid performance from the car so far"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Oil plug had to drilled out at 60000 due to previous services by main dealers.

Slight rattle from front grille, slight wear in fastenings.

General comments?

The car handles and performs well with the Isuzu 2.5 engine.

I find the vehicle has good vision and comfortable whilst driving.

Your 2.5 is not the isuzu engine, the 2.8 was the Isuzu, and then onto the 3.1 which was used in the trooper too. The engine in the frontera is italian and the same as in cherokee jeeps, it's a moto morini, you can see the trade mark cast logos on the engine.

It is however that said a very good engine and jeep obviously did a lot of testing before they used it, which saved vauxhall doing the same.

Re: the moto morini engine I have never read that any where else where did you get that information, everyone else claims the Frontera 2.5TD to be an isuzu engine?

The VM engine in the 2.5 is a very popular engine, It isn't Isuzu though. It can be found in both Jeep Grand Cherokee and Cherokee's as well as Land Rover's, Range Rovers and the Rover 825 d, I had one of the later and at 215'00 miles the body gave way the engine was still strong.
