2017 Vauxhall Insignia Design Nav Grand Sport 1.5i Turbo petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Lovely

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

2017 Insignia Grand Sport - one of the first of the new shape cars for that year.

I think it is an amazing looking car inside and out. My Design model has alloy wheels, and the exterior is grey metallic.

Inside very stylish also, and a quality feel to materials. The car's driving position is perfect for me, and is infinitely adjustable. I can say with certainty anyone will find it comfortable. All electrics are here even on this fairly low range spec.

To drive the 1.5 turbo petrol engine is the one to have. It has reasonable performance, and can still manage close to 40 mpg or more easily if driven carefully. The diesel options, although more powerful and economical, still seem to have their issues in reliability unfortunately, so local taxi drivers tell me with the same car. But nothing less than a clean example with full history and you should be OK, certainly with the petrol variants.

Cannot say much more than other recent reviews have already said, and praised this car enough. You'll be hard pressed to find a better all round car to be honest. It is actually a better car than my old Ford Mondeo, and I used to be a Ford guy, never looked at Vauxhall until now!

2017 Vauxhall Insignia Tech Line Nav Grand Sport 1.6 TD from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Incredible value

Faults:

Start/Stop system not working right, I find it annoying and turn it off anyway on every journey.

Brakes grinding when initially bought - dealer replaced discs and pads.

General Comments:

I got this low mileage and very good condition Insignia last year. Bright white in color and a nice spec. Rear window tints. Lovely looking car. For the money, you cannot beat them for size, space and economy.

Tech Line Nav model is lower range (I'd have preferred an SRi or above) but it has all you'll ever need, full electrics and all the connectivity for modern devices. The seats are very comfortable and this car is built for long journeys. Front driver and passenger have the best comfort - though taller passengers in the rear might find the sloping roof line restricting their headroom a little. But the rear seats are also comfy and there is plenty of leg room.

Boot/hatch space is massive, never a struggle to get anything in.

17 inch 5 blade alloys look very smart and give the car a better ride than the bigger wheels. Plus you can put budget tyres on them for around £60 each. The car's servicing and parts costs is reasonable, and has lower tax and insurance. Put all that together with a genuine 55 mpg or more and this is simply the most economical car in its class.

Only downside of this is the 1.6 turbo diesel is a bit gutless. Not a fast car by any means. But it never struggles so long as you drop a gear when needed for more acceleration. The car is otherwise very nice to drive - super quiet on motorways for long distance cruising. Gearshift and clutch are smooth and light. Steering is nicely weighted. It's a much better to drive car than the older generation Insignia.

As other reviews here and elsewhere have said - why did they stop making them!? It's like the perfect car if you want no hassle motoring! The only thing to keep in mind is look after it well - diesels are known to be troublesome as the miles rise, so make sure you get a well looked after car to begin with if buying for yourself. Service history essential. And the car likes a long drive over short journeys that mess with the DPF, so try to avoid short trips. Popular as taxis and I would avoid high mileage rough cars - there are plenty of low mileage examples at a nice price if you look carefully. To conclude, I love mine and intend to keep it a long time.
