1996 Vauxhall Vectra LS review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Persistent problems with the engine management system, leading to on on occasion, the car accelerating and deaccelerating on its own. Now have a problem that the revs lift by as much as 800 rpm between gear changes. Am now fed up with the thing roaring its head off between gear changes - almost impossible to drive smoothly - especially in town. Dealer says this is "normal" and is due to "emmission" controls - I don't believe him.
General comments?
Nice car, but spoilt by engine problem and appalling MPG. My 130k 1.6 cavalier is still nicer to drive AND returns much better fuel figures. The Vectra has never done better than 31mpg - and it isn't driven hard.
