Just a few minor rattles.

Fuel efficient.

Light clutch uptake, smooth shifting manual transmission.

Under 3000 pounds. Wide (215 millimeters) tires for this weight. Easy to drive (nice handling).

I would agree with this review. After 49,000 miles, no issues!

Plus the little 4 cylinder 1.4L motor - and the 5M transmission - enable very good fuel economy.

Make sure you use synthetic oil and change it no later than 5000 miles and use a quality oil filter - no Jiffy Lube stuff. Otherwise the timing chain will stretch on these TSI engines and it's a major repair. Have the tensioner adjustment level inspected by a VW specialist to evaluate the degree of timing chain stretching so you can replace the chain before it snaps.
