OK. Let's start off by saying that car is going to be worth absolutely nothing, as it's done almost 300000 miles, so there’s not a lot of point in selling it. If you want rid that bad, scrap it.

Also the fact that you bought the car at 236000 miles to start with probably justifies the reason that the car keeps breaking down, that’s a lot and is a lot of miles to have on any car.

I've owned my 96 mk3 Jetta for about 8 years, and it's done 168000 miles, and I've never had any problems worse than putting on a new timing belt or changing the oil.

And while on the subject of oil changes, although I live in Britain not America, I still don’t see how it's possible to pay $250 for an oil change!?

I love the car - nothing at all ever goes wrong with it, and I don’t plan on selling it until the day it starts costing me.

Yet another consumer joins the list of those wanting a lifetime warranty. Will it ever end?

Well, I have to say my Jetta only has 90,000 miles and has been nothing but a headache! If these vehicles are so great, they should come with a lifetime warranty! And, with all the problems these Jetta's have, they SHOULD!!!

Mine has been a yard ornament for 2 years now, after the tranny quit at 90 thou. YES, it is that much for a oil change... the tranny oil alone - for ONE quart mind you - is $29.00!!! VW wants 600 bucks just to hook it up to the diagnostic machine just to figure out why the tranny crapped on me. Well, I just can't afford that - maybe if it stopped at just the 600, but it won't. Remember- that's just to hook it up!

Well, I can't even drive it to get it there anyway... so I am S.O.L. I've also had to replace the oil sensors, the trim has fallen off the doors, the locks freeze when it is cold outside, air conditioning works when it's in the mood, yada yada yada... long story short - no more Volkswagen for me...
