1988 Volkswagen Rabbit Karmann Cabriolet 1.8L 8v from North America

Summary:

I can't seem to stop buying them..

Faults:

I own 2 cabriolets and I used to own a 1980 Rabbit (exact same car).

The fuel pump went out at about 150,000; easy fix, but about a $200 part. Other than that, the only problem I have had is the speedometer quit working at one point, but it's an easy fix too.

The tops always leak.

General Comments:

Honestly this is the most durable car I have ever driven/owned/worked on/ridden in. I do all the maintenance on my friends cars, after 2 engines in my friends Honda, and countless hours of work on my mom's Escort, I love my car.

Unstoppable in the snow, handles like crazy and accelerates very quickly for just a 1.8L.

If you get the I think 1986 and newer models, they have a factory body kit that makes the car a 100 times better looking. Everyone who rides with me thinks it's a cool car.

I almost forgot to mention they get amazing gas mileage! Even when they need an oil change, tune up and you drive them hard.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
