1985 Volkswagen Rabbit GTi review from North America
"A very fast fun car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When the car reached 185,000 miles, the original clutch went!
The seats started to tear only because it has 197,000 miles!
Other than that, nothing other than general maintenence.
General comments?
The car was bought brand new by my father. When I got my license, he gave it to me because he knew how much I loved the car.
For having 197,000 miles, the car still gets about 30 miles per gallon.
This car had been pampered its entire life so it still looks beautiful and runs strong. The transmission is excellent. Very short and tight.
People underestimate this car. They see an old Volkswagen and say, that car is a pile of junk. It's not! This car is extremely fast! Probably because it weighs close to nothing. Then they later find out that this car is no junk when they see me getting smaller and smaller.
But I love the car.
