1976 Volvo 244 DL B20A from France

Summary:

"No sports!" but torque!

Faults:

The "B 20 A" petrol engine sometimes lacks power;

it seems to say as Winston Churchill did: "No sports!".

Stock front seats were losing horsehair; swapped with newer Volvo 240 ones.

The engine has a new Zenith Stromberg carburettor for better daily reliability. "Only stock".

General Comments:

An "Old school" Volvo that you can drive every day.

The "B 20 A" petrol engine is full of torque at low and mid-revs. A trailer is never noticeable.

This gearbox "M 45" is pleasant to shift.

Though a 4-speed manual gearbox, the car is silent if driving under 110 km/h.

Very comfortable front and back seats.

Bright and roomy cabin, and a huge boot.

Though a king-size body, it's very safe to handle.

Easy to service on its own.

Huge choice of spare parts available at one's Volvo dealer or E-dealers.

Does 10.5 l/100 on average, using 98 unleaded petrol.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
