Odometer is broken, angle gear.
Transmission/motor mounts are broken.
Wires are not working, project car.
Goes real fast, once running.
Part are hard to find and expensive too.
Time to put in the midnight toil with the oil and get it back on the road again. What a long strange trip this has been living on the outside of the USA.
I enjoy the handling going over 120 mph down the Parks highway route 3 in Alaska.
Very fun to show off, since only 8,043 were ever made.
Local car club (Alaskan Auto Musher's) asks what kind of car is it. A Pinto?
I own four now, only one runs so far.
I'm planning to have a running stable.
1800 series Volvos are very durable if basic maintenance is kept up (which is no more than for an average vehicle) ; parts are not necessarily more expensive or harder to find for cars this age - in the 1980s it was difficult to find certain parts, like rubber trim, but more recently most everything is available if one uses 1800 classic parts sources. The four cylinder engines are not known for fast acceleration, but they are smooth at high speed (overdrive is standard) and famous for longevity (1966 1800S holds Guinness record for single owner's high mileage). Single biggest fault probably is body rust - some repair panels/rail sections also now available.
Hi, my name is Pete Hardwicke, I am looking for a nice p1800es in the UK. I like this style! Can you tell me what problems to look for? I am new to this volvo thing-also, what is the best year? My budget is $6000, so I think I can get a good car for this price. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. pdfunk@fsmail.net.
It's a really beautiful car. The first time I saw one, I chased it for about a mile and managed to find out what it was from the owner. I have been trying to buy one for about 3 years, but I haven't found one in working order. I'm currently based in the UK, but moving to Canada in the near future. Planning to visit Sweden and see if I can buy a LHD model to export.
I liked the style for this car. I now own a C30, which pays modern tribute to this car's hatch style. They keep a couple of these 1800ES's down at the Volvo dealership where I live, not for sale. I would have loved owning one in its day.
I am in the process of resurrecting a 71 volvo 1800e (130 hp) ebay has been a blessing for parts, and these 1800's have a lot of aftermarket support, especially when you take into consideration the low production numbers. if you can find one in reasonably decent shape, snap it up and buckle up.
