2000 Volvo S40 Sport from North America

Summary:

Do not buy this model

Faults:

-Brakes

-Lights

-Cup Holder

-Shifting Gears

-Check Engine Lights

-Seats (leather cracked after first 6 months)

-***THERMOSTAT****

-Acceleration.

General Comments:

I will never buy this car again.

This car is THE worst car I have ever owned.

Imagine having your car accelerate without your foot on the gas pedal. This problem has almost caused numerous accidents at red lights because I have had my foot on the brake and at the same time it was accelerating. This has happened to me three times because the thermostat has broken three times in the past 1.5 years.

I have had to replace the lightbulbs so many times, that now I have plenty of spares on hand.

The seating is uncomfortable and the leather began to crack after 6 months. I am a small person and have had leather interior. I have never had this problem in any other car.

There has been a problem with my shift stick where you can shift gears while your car is not in drive. Also, you can't take your key out of the ignition.

This car is terrible in the snow and in the rain. It has nothing to do with the tires. I live in N. England and the poor handling of the vehicle does not make for safe driving.

The only thing I look forward to is replacing this vehicle.

If you have an S40, you also need to worry about the car randomly catching on fire. I went online to see if anyone else has had problems similar to mine and found a lot of stories about this happening to people.

I've never heard of an S40 randomly catching fire? Was a smoker driving? My S40 is the best car reliability wise. 104,000 miles with no problems at all. Great motor vehicle.

2000 Volvo S40 T4 1.9 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Good car when running

Faults:

Almost everything.

General Comments:

Very good car when (and I mean when) it is running. Bought it 2 years ago and ever since have been spending out to fix things.

Parts are very expensive.

Is a nice comfortable car inside, and at times can be a smooth drive. The car is also very fast; can get a nice speed out of it, and will beat most cars.

Horrible

2. Vacuum Pump has been replaced at least 4 times.

3. Motor mount block seals replaced each time the car is serviced.

4. The some of the dash board lights do not illuminate.

5. Chipped paint.

6. A metal bar fell off the inside of the sunroof because because the glue holding it in no longer sticks.

6. Replaced the brakes and rotors more times that I can count.

7. Have to replace the headlights every 3-4 months at $15.00 a piece.

8. The back part of the car rattles and the dealer can't tell me why.

I could go on and on.

General Comments:

I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy. It has cost me over $10,000 in a 3 year period.

2000 Volvo S40 1.9 turbo from North America

Summary:

Regret the day I bought it

Faults:

I bought this car used and regret it till today. Ever since that day I feel like I drive a vibrating box. Every other part in the driver's compartment vibrates from the steering to the panels.

My head lights blew more than once.

The climate control has gone bad.

The rear shocks make a noise.

It's one of the worst cars I have driven in terms of the drive. It is like driving a bullock cart.

General Comments:

Car is quick.

Pleasant atmosphere if the climate control works.

Not bad on gas.
