1998 Volvo S70 T5 2.3 from North America

Summary:

High performance, but worthless in the repair shop

Faults:

Door panels do not stayed glued down.

Right strut replaced.

Both front wheel bearings and the right axle were replaced.

Unknown brake failure requiring complete replacement of rear brakes and rotors.

General Comments:

This car drives great and handles well.

The T5 has great power and is exciting to drive.

Repairs are costly and it's hit or miss. I have had 3 of them and this one has really put me off.

1998 Volvo S70 GLT Special Edition 2.4L I-5 Turbo from North America

Summary:

Fast, and a great value

Faults:

Nothing major.

General Comments:

Very, very quick and one of the best value cars on the market today... I was strongly considering buying another BMW but someone mentioned Volvo... I am glad I made the investment and saved myself thousands of dollars... not to mention I have a car that is really quick, handles great, and is all around a great car and fun to drive

I agree with your review. I came out of a BMW 325 coupe and into an S-70 T5.

I would never have considered the car until an old friend of mine at dealership took me out on the freeway in a T5 and told me to "stomp it". It jerked my head off! Felt like old muscle car!

I bought a loaded bright red car. all options!! I love it, and have had no problems at all except for turn signal bulbs which cleared up when replaced with glass plug variety. It's a keeper. Just turned three years and 32,000 miles!

1998 Volvo S70 SE 2.5i turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Reliability has been disappointing, the following have gone wrong in the first 14 months of ownership:

1. Air conditioning compressor - twice! First the original unit, then the replacement.

2. Electric front window switch.

3. Electric aerial - twice! First the original unit, then the replacement

General Comments:

Other than the reliability, a good car. Wonderfully comfortable cabin, especially the seats, making it an excellent motorway cruiser.

The water based paint takes ages to properly harden. Getting rid of bird droppings in the first few weeks gave dreadful scratches.
