Had no problems at all with the car for the 18 months that I owned it.
I loved my Metro. It got mad gas mileage and performed perfectly adequately for my needs. Insurance and maintenance cost next to nothing. I took it on multiple road trips through the Rockies and Sierra Nevadas; it never faltered once. I've owned some 20 cars since then and have been kicking myself ever since for getting rid of it.
There wasnt a 1987 Geo Metro. The Geo brand didn't come into the market until 1989. However in 1987 Chevrolet did have a Sprint model with metro being a trim level.
