Check Engine Light triggers on and off constantly.
Was told my dealer it was the gas cap, and they "fixed" it. When the light appeared the 2nd time I checked the gas cap, removed and clicked it back on the warning light was still there. It disappears and reappears... nobody seems to know why. Unsettling and disappointing.
Many regrets, wish I had found this website before purchasing.
The only thing I like about this vehicle right now is it's hatchback window feature.
Well you know it may be some small thing like you may not be tightening the cap all the way, give it at least 3 clicks.
Auto zone gives free diagnostics too, if you have one close by check on in, if nothing comes up they can erase the problem, it may be a glitch to in the computer or something.
As a former owner of a Sportage who experienced the exact same problems and more the early days of owning a 2000 Sportage, I feel thankful that I didn't purchase a new one. I am still struggle to make ends meet thanks to the thousands of dollars in repairs that this vehicle has cost me. My recommendation is to get rid of it at your first opportunity. I wish I hadn't kept this one so long.
