Starter, alternator, slave cylinder, master cylinder, AC, rear axles, ball joints, stabilizer bars, all of which are the result of serious 4 wheeling.
Will go literally anywhere.
Has never left me "stranded".
Parts wear out... replace them and it'll last forever.
I too own a 1986 Comanche X and getting stranded seems a complete impossibility.
I also own an 86 Comanche and personally I love it. Mine is mostly stock with the exception of tires and I have only been stuck a few times. It is a great vehicle.
I own an 86 Comanche 4x4 and it has been a great running truck. It's a little low on power with only a 2.5 liter throttle body injection to propel it, but I'm in 4 low most of the time anyway. I only had the clutch master cylinder go out and also the rearend went out because I was powerbraking and getting a lot of wheel hop while doing so.. heck I'm surprised it held up as long as it did. The Comanche is an awesome machine.
I have 3 MJ's, and they are all damn reliable.
One has a 2.8, is fully restored, and is prepped for a 4.3 swap... another has a 4.0, and is off to paint, and my personal favorite, the Renault 2.1 turbo diesel... which will be the next restore project... up to 37 mpg.
I love these trucks, and though I restore them with minor lifts and don't 4 wheel them, I will be buying another to make an outrageous off-roader.
If anyone knows about a solid one, email me @ snow_freak20@hotmail.com.
