Last of the 70's GT Falcons some say the last real GT.
Getting more popular now as a collectors item these cars suffered badly at the hands fools in their prime.
They were a quick cheap car and got "thrashed" to death most ending up in wrecking yards.
A good example now fetching upward past $10,000 au. they are set to become part of our Australian Motoring History.
I thank everyone who has rescued a GT or a similar vehicle, oh so many were taken for granted.
I thought the XY GT, was the last of the real GT's!
XB GT, luxurious in the GT tradition? -Yes, but not in the performance stakes.
I own an XB GT UTE built from the ground up which is worth around $40,000 but it looks completely original besides a scoop in the bonnet. Now they are collector cars, but people don't really want them, trust me I've had mine for sale for $30,000 and I won't get that, maybe $15,000, plus I have an original xy gt ho phase 3 in the shed ready to be built. I have a ford fairlane 351 and an XD 351, all orginal and all have won trophys, besides the XY, and no one's offered me a reasonable price yet. Hold on to it, it would be more worth the value if you're a real car collector like me.
I have a XW Falcon with a 302 and C4 its been in the family since 72 my dad bought it with 9000 miles (its now done 155000) for $3200 NZ dollars at the same time you could get a new Holden Belmont for the same money its been in storage on and off for the last 10 years some rust, faded red paint, tidy black interior, every couple of months I get approached to sell it, but I'm going to keep it. But lets remember it's an old car and I love it the way it is, I cringe every time I see an old coon ponced up with someone who should know better having spent a fortune (never to be seen again) trying hard to polish a turd, they arnt an investment spend your money on a house then it may do you some good long term lets see the cars in their natural state PLEASE. How many GTs were made because I think they may be breeding because there is a lot more of them now. cheers Jim.
If you would tell people it was the same car that Mad Max drove I bet you will get it sold in no time.
The reason you can't sell your ute is because it is not a gt ford never made gt utes. It is probably a gs ute witch could be optioned up to nearly gt level when new. I also doubt any one would be willing to pay 30,000 for it.
XB GT are an appreciating classic. Like most people who own one they know what people are paying for the genuine article these days.
