1992 GMC Jimmy SLE from North America - Comments

"After 11 years we still love the 1992 Jimmy"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

As far as what has gone wrong with our truck, just the regular replacement items, wipers, belts, muffler, tires, gas tank, heater core.

General comments?

The truck has been very reliable - always there and working when we need it.

We did get good miles per gallon when we took it on the road.

This is our second Jimmy, and we love them. Also purchased new, a l999 Jimmy.

I bought my Jimmy in 1992 and it now has 216968 miles on it and still running great. It has the original transmission and engine, gets great gas mileage, uses no oil and has no leaks. I have never had a problem with the 4 wheel drive. I have only had to perform normal repairs on it. I will put the third set of tires on it this weekend. Not bad for 216968 miles. The 1992 Jimmy (S-15) is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I did like my 1957 Desoto, but this one sure beats it. I guess I just dated my self, but getting old with my Jimmy is OK.

My 92 Jimmy was my first vehicle and as a young man myself have beaten on it since I bought it, but after all of that she still runs as strong as ever. There is nothing bad I could say about the 4.3L V6 Vortec, it's a strong reliable motor that was perfect for the light SUV.

I suggest that anyone looking for a first vehicle for there son or daughter look into this vehicle.

CAUTION:if you plan to buy one you should lean toward the manual 4x4 and not the electronic. (I'm not that happy with having to replace the 4 wheel drive modual every couple years) but other than that this is the perfect vehicle for someone that likes the dirt as well as pavement.
